Vine Christian International Academy

Vine Christian International Academy (VICA) is a new education service provider in Uganda. The school caters for pre-primary, primary and secondary school sections. The school is located at Old Kampala but is slated to shift to a new site soon.

The school has a keen interest in introducing the students to sports - healthy body for healthy mind. Cricket is one the key sports that the school has engaged in and have particularly selected Thursdays for coaching sessions at Lugogo Cricket Oval. The short term plan is to have the school getting unto the already existing Schools Cricket Programme run by the Association - The Mini Cricket Cricket Development Programme (Under 10s & Under 13 categories for both girls and boys) and The Schools Development Programme (Categories of U15s, U17s & U19s).

On VICA Cricket Programme the school has an internal schools arrangement with four teams - Pluto, Mars, Venus and Jupiter. Here is a pictorial of one the coaching sessions at Lugogo with John Trust Mayeku and Team.

Makerere University Cricket Team

The only University that plays in the local Cricket League in Uganda is Makerere. The University's campaigns for top honours have not been very fruitful in the recent years. The University plans to have the 2013 campaign more aggressive.The University has so many players turning out for elite clubs but their stay at the bottom has not interested many to play for them.

The University management has a development strategy plan with the coach to run for three years and this shall definitely propel the team into top competition for honours.

Supersport is a popular pay television that is relayed by Digital Satelite Television in Africa. Through an understanding between the organisers of franchise East Africa Cricket Competitions (EAPL & EAC) and Supersort cricket was telecast live at Kampala, Uganda.

It is at this point that young boys and girl were organised to show case what they got so far at their tender age.
